After a successful house debut at the Royal Opera House, Mr. Smith returns to the role of Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly as he makes his Festival d’Aix-en-Provence debut. His recent performance at San Diego Opera was praised by San Diego Story, which claimed: “Smith created a compelling, seamless dramatic arc from the bravado of his first meeting with his Japanese geisha, to authentic ardor as they consummate their marriage, to intense remorse when he returns to Nagasaki three years later to face the tragedy he has brought on Cio-Cio-San.” Conducted by Maestro Daniele Rustioni, Mr. Smith shares the stage with Ermonela Jaho as Ciò-Ciò-San, Lionel Lhote as Sharpless and Mihoko Fujimura as Suzuki.

Performances take place on July 5th, 8th, 10th, 13th, 16th, 19th, and 22nd. For tickets and more information, click here.
